After your initial SSDI application is denied, you will receive a denial notice explaining:

2. File Your Appeal Within the Deadline

The appeals process has four levels:

A. Reconsideration

D. Federal Court Review

• Final Step: If denied by the Appeals Council, you may file a lawsuit in Federal District Court.
• Requirement: It is strongly recommended to have legal representation at this stage due to complex court procedures.

4. Strengthening Your SSDI Appeal

To increase your chances of success during your appeal:

• Provide Updated Medical Records: Include recent doctor visits, imaging, and treatment updates.
• Obtain Detailed Doctor Statements: Ask your doctor to write a statement explaining your functional limitations and why you cannot work.
• Explain Worsening Conditions: Clearly document any progression of your condition since your initial application.
